Spark creativity and build literacy skills all while having tons of fun!

Step into a world of wonder and imagination with Play Me a Story, brought to you by Portland Stage! It's an enchanting event tailored for kids aged 4 to 10, where the magic of theater meets the joy of storytelling.

Picture this: your little ones are treated to captivating performances of beloved children's tales, including The Spectacular Suit by Kat Patrick, Nervous Nigel by Bethany Christou, Mr. S by Monica Arnaldo, and All the World by Liz Garton Scanlon and illustrated by Marla Frazee. These stories aren't just entertaining; they're all about celebrating what makes us unique. From the clothes we wear to the games we play, every choice is a form of self-expression!

But the fun doesn't stop there. After the show, get ready for an interactive acting workshop led by Portland Stage's Education Artists. It's a chance for your kids to dive into the world of theater, unleashing their creativity, building literacy skills, and igniting their dramatic dreams!

And here's the best part: tickets are available on a Pay-What-You-Wish sliding scale (thanks to a generous Local Community Grant from Walmart #1797), with a suggested price of just $15 per person. So, come join us for a morning filled with laughter, learning, and unforgettable memories. Let's make some magic together!

FAQs

Q: How is ticketing handled?
A: Ticketing is by general admission. There is no assigned seating - as such, we cannot guarantee that large parties will be seated together, especially if the show is sold out. We recommend arriving when the doors open for the highest likelihood of sitting together.

Q: What time do the doors open?
A: The doors open at 9:45 am.

Q: Is this event family-friendly?
A: This event is for the young and the young-at-heart - all are welcome! All patrons, regardless of age, require a ticket. The acting workshop portion of the morning is geared toward kids ages 4-10; participation by younger audience members is up to the discretion of Portland Stage's educators.

Q: Is Watts Hall an accessible venue?
A: Yes, it is! While the auditorium is located on the second floor, we do have an ADA-compliant elevator available to anyone who needs it. We also have an accessible restroom. The doorways and hallways are nice and wide to accommodate mobility aids.

Q: Will tickets be available at the door?
A: Maybe. We don't reserve any tickets for door sales and our events often sell out in advance. If you want to guarantee entrance, we recommend purchasing your tickets in advance. We will update our Facebook page regarding the availability of door tickets the day of the event.

Q: Will food and drink be available for purchase?
A: Yes! A selection of concessions and non-alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase.

Q: Where should I park?
A: Plenty of free parking is available behind the business block on the side of Rt. 1 opposite Watts Hall.

Q: Who should I talk to if I have any other questions?
A: You can send an email to our Managing Director, Kendray Rodriguez at wattshallcommunityarts@gmail.com.

All tickets are non-refundable.
