World Singing Day 2024

  • Watts Hall Community Arts 174 Main Street Thomaston, ME, 04861 United States (map)

Sing together, unite the world!

Come be part of something special at Watts Hall Community Arts as we join voices for World Singing Day! Now in its 13th year globally, this is our second year participating, and we’re thrilled to host this joyful sing-along right here in Thomaston as the only venue in Maine.

Founded by Colorado musician Scott Johnson in 2012, World Singing Day is a global event that brings people together through the simple act of singing. From cities to small towns around the world, people of all ages and backgrounds gather to celebrate connection, community, and the universal power of music. When you sing with us, you’ll not only be joining your neighbors but also voices around the globe.

This event is truly for everyone—whether you’re a seasoned performer or someone who just loves to sing in the shower. No matter your age, ability, or background, World Singing Day welcomes all. There are no rehearsals, no auditions, and no pressure—just the simple joy of singing together in a supportive, fun atmosphere. Come solo or bring a group—either way, you'll experience the magic of music and the incredible connection that singing with others creates. It's a chance to celebrate what unites us as humans, share in a joyful community, and create lasting memories that will carry far beyond the final note.

Participation is free, and while pre-registration is encouraged, it’s not required. Just bring yourself, your friends, and your voice, and join us for an unforgettable day of music and unity.

FAQs

Q: Is this event seated or standing?

A: Your choice! You can sit, you can stand, you can dance - whatever makes you comfortable and brings you joy.

Q: Do I have to be a “good singer” to participate in World Singing Day?

A: No, you definitely don't! Anyone and everyone is welcome to lift their voices with us.

Q: What will we be singing? Do I need to prepare ahead of time?

A: We'll be singing songs that most people are familiar with and that are pretty easy to sing. You don't need to do any kind of preparation ahead of time.
