Down East Singers Holiday Concert

  • Watts Hall Community Arts 174 Main Street Thomaston, ME, 04861 United States (map)

Down East Singers and Halcyon String Quartet with accordionist Delmar Dustin Small present a multi-media performance of Marianna Filippi's To Maine, With Love, Small's Wreathe the Holly, Twine the Bay, and Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria.

This collaborative project features the world premiere of Marianna Filippi’s To Maine, With Love, commissioned by Down East Singers in celebration of Maine’s bicentennial. Scored for string quartet, accordion, piano, and chorus, and with lyrics by Maine poet Megan Grumbling, the new work will be accompanied by synchronous film created by filmmaker Luke Fatora. Additional music and accompanying film will celebrate Maine through imagery that explores how the state’s geologic history has shaped its present identity and landscape.

Admission $25. Students 18 and younger admitted free but must have a ticket.
